Barbara L Ekholm

September 20, 1946 — August 7, 2023

Barbara L Ekholm, a dedicated homemaker, loving wife, and mother, passed away on August 7, 2023. She was surrounded by loved ones in her final moments. Born on September 20, 1946, Barbara lived a life filled with kindness, selflessness, and laughter.

Barbara's career primarily revolved around her role as a homemaker, caring for her family with unwavering devotion. However, later in life, she also held various positions that allowed her to continue serving others. She worked at Yogurt Plus in the Lewis County Mall and served as an Administrative/Teacher's Aide in the Adna School District. She also worked as an Office Assistant at Harvey's in Spokane and took on the role of handling medical billing for Providence.

She attended Central Valley High School, graduating in 1964. Her thirst for knowledge and love for learning were evident throughout her life.

Describing Barbara's personality is easy: kind. Countless people would agree that kindness defined her character. Even while facing challenging circumstances, such as caring for her husband after his motorcycle accident and attending to her bedridden mother battling cancer, Barbara continued to care for her three young children with immense love. In addition to shouldering these responsibilities, she served as RS president in their ward—a testimony to her unwavering dedication to serving others. With a perpetual smile adorning her face, Barbara embodied Christlike love and service.

Beyond kindness, Barbara possessed a wonderful sense of humor that brought joy to those around her. She had a talent for making others laugh and enjoyed engaging friends in long phone conversations. On hot days, she would often instigate water fights—a testament to an adventurous spirit and a willingness to embrace simple pleasures.

Sewing was one of Barbara's cherished hobbies; she lovingly made clothes for her family. Her skill extended to the art of quilting, and each grandchild was gifted with a hand-quilted baby quilt. Additionally, she found solace and delight in reading, with Jane Eyre holding a special place in her heart. Shopping trips and cherished moments spent with family completed her list of hobbies and interests. Above all, Barbara took immense pride in her family and worked tirelessly to create a happy and nurturing home that would shape her children's lives.

Barbara's eternal companion, Donald A Ekholm, preceded her in death. She leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion survived by her children: Alvin Ekholm (Kristina Ekholm), Teresa Ekholm, Diana Crossley (Dustin Crossley), grandchildren: Heather & Zach Hill, Jeffrey Ekholm, Stephanie Ekholm, Joshua Ekholm, Kaylee & Colton Hanson, Kendra & Garrett Dubois, Megan & Jordan Harries, Brayden Crossley, Landon Crossley; great-grandchildren: Matthew Hill, Ellie Hill, Maci Ekholm; brother Alan Frandsen (Leanne Frandsen) and their children Nate, Ben, Amelia, & Elisabeth.
