Bonnie D Thomson Carlson August 4, 1939 – July 20, 2025

Our dear sweet Bonnie went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ July 20, 2025.

She was born to Raymond and Evelyn Thomson in Winner, South Dakota. When she was 8 years old her family moved to the “wild” mountains of North Idaho to Cocolalla, and included many years of shenanigans with her brothers. She graduated from Sandpoint Highschool.

Bonnie married Don Carlson August 30, 1963 and had three children. She loved so many good things: God, family and friends. She played the piano for church services, played softball, liked traveling, coffee with friends, flowers and butterflies. She especially liked watching her grandchildren’s hobbies and was their best and biggest fan. Bonnie was famous for her homemade chocolate cake and endless jar of cookies. Bonnie was a hard worker taking care of her family. She worked for an insulation business, laundry, cannery, sewing factory, removed asbestos and retired from COOP in Post Falls. She also worked many hours harvesting and canning food from the garden and orchards. She hauled wood and hay and could run fast enough to catch anyone who deserved a whoopin’ with a wooden spoon!

Bonnie was an amazing wife, mother (3) GMA (5) GG (3), and friend and was loved very much. She had a vibrant smile for everyone she met, was an encourager and a blessing to all. She lived with joy in her heart even in the tough times and was a living example for everyone to see. Her motto was “Always look on the bright side”. She will be deeply missed.

Bonnie is preceded in death by her parents Raymond and Evelyn Thomson and her brother and sister-in-law Lowell and Ev Thomson.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years Donald Carlson, children Crisy (Bryan) Taylor, Kelly (Aron) Dicksion, Kit (Kristine) Carlson, her precious grandchildren Scott (Paige) Cox, Kyle (Madison) Taylor, Bailey (Michael) Rapp, Jodi (Kyle) McCarthy and Ellie Malea Carlson, her brothers Darrell (Linda) Thomson and Norman (Carrie) Thomson, and many nephews, nieces, great grandchildren and other family.
