Obituary

Carolyn Gail Berry, beloved wife, mother, and cherished friend, peacefully went to be with our Lord and Savior on May 28, 2026, after a courageous battle with illness. Born on January 13, 1955, in Modesto, California, to Harold D. Lillie and Evelyn Gretelle Lillie, Carolyn’s life was a testament to love, resilience, and dedication.

A proud graduate of Thomas Downey High School’s Class of 1973 in Modesto, she further pursued her passion by earning an Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement. Carolyn’s journey led her from Modesto to Arizona, then to Carrollton, Texas, where she worked as a Food Service Specialist. Life’s path brought her back home, where she met and married Johnny Lee Berry in 1998, a union born from a deep friendship that began at Kelly Springfield Tire Co.

Together, Carolyn and Johnny embraced new opportunities, moving to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in 2003, where they both flourished as realtors. Their entrepreneurial spirit shone bright as they purchased Wiggett’s Antique Marketplace in the historic Roxy Theater building downtown. In 2010, their hearts grew fuller as they joyfully adopted Larissa May Berry, a young girl from the local foster system, who is now a strong and vibrant woman at 27.

Seeking peace and comfort, Carolyn and Johnny made their home in St. Maries, Idaho, a serene retreat from the bustle of life. Though faced with formidable health challenges, including a rare disease called Vasculitis that ultimately led to kidney failure, Carolyn faced each day with grace, receiving care lovingly at home these past two years.

Carolyn’s warmth and kindness have left a lasting imprint on all who knew her. She is lovingly remembered by her husband Johnny; her daughter Larissa; her sisters Brenda Pfitzer and Dianne Martin; her brother Harold Lillie Jr.; and Johnny’s parents, Ron and Reba Berry. She also embraced her children by marriage—Jessica Padron, Jacque Taylor, and Rudy Cavazos—and was adored by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Preceded in death by her parents and her brother John D. Lillie, Carolyn’s legacy continues through the love she shared and the lives she touched. In honor of her compassionate spirit, donations may be made to your local humane society, reflecting her deep care for all living beings.

A memorial service celebrating Carolyn’s beautiful life will be held for family and close friends at a later date. In our hearts, her gentle spirit will forever remain a shining light.
