In Loving Memory of Charlie William “Chuck” Bolton, 1941-2025
Charles William Bolton, fondly known as “Chuck”, was born on May 5, 1941, in Butte, Montana, and passed away at the age of 84 on August 20, 2025, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, surrounded by his family, who lovingly held his hands and encouraged him to be at peace.
Chuck is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Darlene M. Bolton; beloved daughter Becky Jo (Bolton) Randles and son-in-law Destry Randles; daughter-in-law Melissa Bolton; grandchildren Morgan Randles (Taylor), Rohnin Randles (Abi), Gabriel Randles (Aydah), Kaitlyn Bolton, and Lily Bolton; great-grandson Damon Randles; brothers Mickey Bolton (Vonnie) and Tim Bolton (Judy); brother-in-law John Price; and many wonderful nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his cherished son, Bill Bolton; his parents, Augustine and Gert Bolton; parents-in-law, Edward and Mae Baker; brothers Jack (Dorrie), Gus, Tommy (Annette), Neil (Diane), and Danny (Renee); sisters Helen (Orr) Keto, Veronica (Bernie) Jacobs, Trudy (Jack) Brown, and Ann Price; as well as other close friends and family members.
As a young man, Chuck worked in the mines of his hometown of Butte. He later began a long and dedicated career in the airline industry, first with Western Airlines and continuing with Delta Airlines, from which he eventually retired. Through his work, he formed lasting friendships and carried with him a strong work ethic, deep loyalty, and quiet pride.
Chuck was often described as “the nicest guy you will ever meet.” He had a playful sense of humor and a special gift for lightening the mood, especially when someone he loved was feeling down. Above all, his family was his greatest joy and focus in life. Chuck and Darlene were blessed to share 5 years of dating and another 61 years of marriage. He often said he could not have endured the past year without Darlene’s love and support, and his devotion to her was unwavering. He delighted in being present for his children and found immense happiness in the lives of his grandchildren—the lights of his life—rarely missing a chance to cheer them on.
Working in the airline industry gave Chuck the opportunity to share his love of travel with those closest to him. Among the family’s most cherished memories were trips to California, Hawaii, and Utah. And wonderful Bolton family gatherings in Butte can’t go without mention as these times were always so special to him.
A graveside memorial service honoring Chuck will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Mountain View Cemetery, with a lunch reception to follow at the Butte Depot. Family and friends—anyone who knew and loved Chuck—are warmly invited to attend. An online obituary and guestbook are available through Bell Tower Funeral Home in Post Falls, ID where you can leave condolences and share memories.
Chuck will be most remembered for his humor, kindness, devotion to family, and the joy he shared so freely with everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be missed more deeply than words can express.
