David Lee Harris

With much love and sadness, David Lee Harris (Age 86) of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho passed away on April 7, 2026.

Dave, born on September 10, 1939, in California, was raised by his parents Jackson and Bonnie, alongside his uncle Edwin and his two elder brothers, Jack and George. He attended Pomona High School where sports were an important part of his life. After his graduation, Dave entered his Rookie year playing for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Memories of catching for Sandy Koufax were very special to Dave. Although an injury brought his baseball career to an early end, he subsequently earned his associate’s degree from Mt. Sac College and his bachelor’s degree from La Verne College.

While attending La Verne College, Dave met the love of his life JoAnn who had moved to California to teach elementary education. They married in June of 1966 and had two children, Heather, born in 1968 and Heath, born in 1969. 

Dave’s life was always an adventure. A career with Wilson Sporting Goods (Golf Division), Reebok and other sport manufacturing/sales positions throughout the years allowed Dave and his family to live in many different states from Michigan, California, Illinois, Washington, New Mexico and finally Idaho where he and JoAnn resided for almost 20 years.

Dave loved sports cars, working outside making his yard beautiful, traveling all over the world, golfing, watching Westerns, sporting events and most of all, spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, JoAnn, his daughter, Heather, his son, Heath, granddaughter’s, Olivia (Collin), Alena (Alec), Abigail (Garret) and finally 3 great grandchildren, Harper, Eddie and Grant with another great grandchild arriving in October.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his uncle, his brothers and his son in law, Edward.

David was the most loved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be greatly missed by all.
