Donald Veryl Fackler
Born: February 16, 1954
Lane County, Oregon
Don passed away on May 19, 2025. He was a loving husband to his wife Sherry for 15 years. He had 3 stepchildren: Tina, Patrick of Hayden, ID and Keith from Elko, NV. He also had a stepdaughter, Amber, from Oregon. He is proceeded in death by his parents, Delbert and Evelyn. He is also survived by 2 brothers; Randy of China; Gene of Eugene, OR and 1 sister, Barbara of Springfield, OR. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Don loved riding his motorcycle every chance he got. When we moved to Idaho, Don took his first ride with Tribute to Fallen Soldiers. He also joined ABATE and rode with other groups in support of fallen soldiers and Gold Star families.
He was always very patriotic and proud of his service in the Army from 1971-1974. Don was stationed in Germany near the Eastern Border in East Berlin with the Transportation Unit. He received a letter commending him for his courage when being held at gunpoint by border guards. He also received the Commendation Medal, Certificate of Appreciation, National Service Medal and Occupation Medal (Berlin). He was also an expert with the M16. Don received an Honorable Discharge April 19, 1974.
Don also liked building trikes, He’s done a few ...... a stake bed little trailer, a camp trailer out of a car carrier, and others. He even turned my bike to a trike when I needed to give it up. It was great and he painted it a pretty copper color. He was always ready to help someone that needed it. From buying them a sack of groceries to fixing or helping them fix their bike. He was there to help someone move when their home was destroyed or when they were just moving.
Don really loved it here in Idaho where people showed respect for those who served. People were so much friendlier and of course, the thought was great that people could shoot their guns at a target area on their property. He also couldn’t get over how people can ride their ATV or UTV on the roads. He was very happy to move to Idaho and the property we bought.
Don was a good man with a big heart. He will be sorely missed.
