Frederick “Fred” Albert Selby Jr.

Frederick Albert Selby Jr., was a devoted husband to Keileen and an incredible father to their nine children: Tatiana, Joseph (Monica), Matthew (Sadie), Kiara (Connor), Natasha, Thad (Andrea), Samuel (Sara), Rebekah and Ethan. He adored his ten grandchildren: (Joseph) Camden, Skylee, Zaiden, Oakley, (Kiara) Roman, Jonathan, (Natasha) Eric, Michael, Kash, (Samuel) Callen.

He was 51 years old and died April 16, 2025, in Hayden, Idaho, at home in his favorite room, in his favorite house. He lived in a home designed by his hands, his heart, and his dreams. It was built together with God and family; this home was affectionately named The Gathering Place.

He was the second child and only son, born to his parents Frederick Albert Selby and Linda Lee Eilmas in Auburn, CA on June 19, 1973. Fred grew up in California then moved in the 80’s with his family to Athol, Idaho. Adventuring in the woods near his home was a favorite pastime. He went to high school at Lakeland High in Rathdrum, Idaho. He followed his heart and God’s timing through many different careers until returning back to school years later to become a helicopter pilot.

Fred married Keileen Ruth Williams on December 17, 1994 in the Salt Lake City, Utah temple for time and all eternity. The two met while serving in the Arizona, Tempe Mission. Fred loved and served many wonderful people during his two years of service in Arizona. Shortly after returning home the couple met up again and were both convinced they were meant to be. Fred was absolutely smitten by Keileen. He worked his whole life to love her the way she deserved to be loved. To the very end Keileen stood by his side and to the very end she held the most special place in his heart. She was his queen. Fred loved his children immensely and did his best to make sure they all knew they were equal and enough in his eyes.

Fred had many different occupations throughout his journey here in mortality. He always worked hard and was a continual learner. He was a jack of all trades. Fred knew how to do anything and everything. Some of the occupations he held while in this life were: Copier Salesman, Mechanic, Concrete worker, Construction worker, Helicopter Pilot, Real Estate agent, Web design professional. He was very successful in Sales and won numerous awards for being the top salesman in various companies. He attributed his success to listening to his customers to understand their needs and then to meet those needs.

Fred had the opportunity to live in California, Arizona, Utah, Washington, and Idaho.

Fred has many special accomplishments, though few have been publicly recognized. Fred was someone who has always worked, served, and loved individuals. Fred’s greatest accomplishment is the legacy of love that he has left behind. He was the kind of man that made you feel known, seen, and heard. He was the kind of man who would drop everything and run to someone’s aid even after a day of back breaking work. These accomplishments will live on for generations.

Fred had many hobbies. As a jack of all trades he was someone who had dabbled in almost everything. In his younger years as a teen he loved to workout, play football, dance, hike, and play. As a young adult he loved to draw, play the piano, snowboard, rock climb, hike, and spend time with his little family he began to build. As a father of nine he loved to wrestle, start tickle fights, start food fights, play piano, get outdoors, camp, hike, and do romantic things for his wife. In his 40s his midlife crisis was helicopter school; It had been a dream of his for as long as he could remember. As he crept towards his 50’s his hobbies again changed to include: wakeboarding, wake surfing, duck hunting, the occasional golf game, and spending time with family. Out of all of his favorite things to do the number one thing was to be outdoors with his family, most especially with his wife.

Fred was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He believed (and still believes) in Heavenly Parents and in his brother Jesus Christ. Fred had most recently served as a second counselor in his ward’s bishopric and served dutifully, to the best of his ability, until his body could no longer do so. He believes each man and woman on this planet is a son or daughter of God. He believes that the Resurrected Savior, Jesus Christ, will come again, and that through the power of the Atonement of Christ, all people will be resurrected. He believes that families are forever.

Fred Selby’s biggest dream/goal that he had since childhood was to meet his grandchildren before he left this life. Thankfully, he has many grandchildren who have loved and adored him. Fred leaves this Earth ready and willing. He leaves this Earth with full peace knowing he has done all that was required of him.

Fred is survived by his wife and children: Keileen Ruth in Hayden, Idaho, Tatiana Marie, Joseph Albert (Monica) in Ogden, Utah, Matthew Robert (Sadie) in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Kiara Machi Shaw (Connor) in Logan, Utah, Natasha Katarina in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Thad James (Andrea) in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, Samuel Timothy (Sara) in Post Falls, Idaho, Rebekah Lilia in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and Ethan Gabriel in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
