It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Glenn Eugene Shiflett, who left this world on October 28th, 2023 at 11:15 pm. Surrounded by love, he took his final breath at NIACH in Post Falls, Idaho, with his daughter by his side.
Glenn was born on February 6th, 1953 at Tyndall A.F.B. in Florida to his loving parents, Frances J. Gleason and Merrideth N. Shiflett. He spent his early years in Illinois, which is where his brother, Terry, was born. Unfortunately, Terry passed away several years ago but had always been a big part of Glenn's life. Eventually, Glenn ended up later settling in California
Throughout his life, Glenn ventured across numerous states, each one leaving a lasting impression on him. His journey led him to Utah, California, Texas, Arizona, and finally to the serene landscapes of Idaho where he resided for almost four years.
Glenn found solace and joy in life's simple pleasures. He had a deep appreciation for travel, often finding delight in train rides that carried him to new destinations. Camping trips allowed him to reconnect with nature, while fishing brought tranquility to his soul. He possessed a talent for cooking and found immense satisfaction in preparing meals for those he loved. Glenn was also an avid reader and took pleasure in losing himself within the pages of a good book. As he watched the world around him, bird-watching became yet another source of serenity for him.
When it came to entertainment, Glenn's taste gravitated towards westerns that transported him to a bygone era, crime dramas that kept him on the edge of his seat, and the news which helped him stay informed about the world.
Glenn will be dearly missed but forever remembered by those who survived him. His memory lives on through his son Robert Shiflett from Canton, Illinois along with his four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is also survived by Luwanna Chriswell from South Pekin, Illinois, who holds cherished memories of Glenn close to her heart, along with her three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Additionally, Glenn leaves behind his daughter Sonia Baird/Shiflett in Sandpoint, Idaho, who will forever treasure his legacy and memories. He also leaves behind three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
As we remember the life of a remarkable soul who touched our lives in countless ways, let us remember Glenn for his kindness, his adventurous spirit, and the love he bestowed upon those fortunate enough to have known him. May he find eternal peace as he joins the choir of angels above.
