Howard "Sonny" Marshall Jones. 87. of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, passed away peacefully on March 9 2026.
Howard was born on October 22, 1938, in Hamilton, Ohio. From humble beginnings, he grew into a man defined by devotion--to his country, his family, his faith, and the simple joys of life
He proudly served four years in the United States Navy, carrying with him a deep sense of patriotism and discipline that shaped the rest of his life. Following his military service, Howard built a career as a skilled electrician, known for his strong work ethic and steady hands.
On life's journey, he was blessed to share his years with his beloved wife, Dorothy Nell Jones (maiden: Cole). Together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and faith. Howard was a proud father to Michael, Patrick, and Timothy Jones. His legacy continues through his nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild, each of whom brought him immeasurable joy.
Howard was many things to many people. He loved to fish and found peace on the water, a devoted "Bible scholar" who studied and shared his faith thoughtfully, and a passionate historian with a deep curiosity about the world. He was also a natural entertainer, never missing an opportunity to share a clever remark or playful joke with his grandchildren. He proudly claimed the title of "professional TV enthusiast," enjoying his favorite programs with the same dedication he gave to everything else, Howard was also a devoted fan of Alabama Crimson Tide college football, "Roll Tide!"
Those who knew Howard will remember his humor, his storytelling, his steadfast faith, and his deep love for his family. His presence filled a room, and his absence will be deeply felt.
