Jerry Howell
April 3, 1955 – April 5, 2026
Jerry Howell, a man known for his warm smile, quick wit, and genuine love of people, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on April 3, 1955, in Illinois, Jerry lived a life full of hard work, adventure, and deep devotion to the people he loved.
Jerry's journey eventually led him to the rugged beauty of north Idaho, a place that suited his spirit perfectly. He first settled in Naples, Idaho, where he took on one of his proudest achievements: building a log cabin with his own hands, a home where he and his family would live and make memories for twenty years. It was the kind of accomplishment that spoke volumes about who Jerry was; determined, capable, and always building something meaningful.
In his working years, Jerry put in honest, hard labor at a sawmill in Bonners Ferry, but he never stopped growing. Driven by his sharp mind and quiet ambition, he went back to school and earned an Associate's Degree, going on to build a career as a Paralegal. He was a man who believed in bettering himself, and he did.
The outdoors called to Jerry throughout his life. He spent many happy hours hunting and fishing in the wilds of Idaho, at home among the trees, rivers, and mountains that defined the landscape he loved. Later in life he settled in Post Falls, Idaho, where he continued to be a warm and lively presence in the community around him.
Jerry was outgoing and talkative in the best possible way, the kind of person who could strike up a conversation with anyone and leave them feeling like an old friend. He had a gift for connection, and it showed in the many friendships he cultivated throughout his life.
Above all else, Jerry was a devoted family man. He is survived by his beloved wife, Paula; his two sons, Jacob and Jordan; his granddaughters, Heather and Lily; his brothers, John and Jay; and his sister Clare, along with their families; and several cherished nieces and nephews.
That he passed on Easter Sunday feels quietly right, a day of hope and new beginnings, for a man who brought light into every room he entered. Jerry Howell will be deeply missed, and dearly remembered.
