John “Corky” Jurkovich, 65, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away on April 12, 2026, at The Lodge at Fairway Forest, where he had been receiving compassionate care, surrounded by those who loved him. He was born June 22, 1960, at Providence Hospital in Wallace, Idaho, to John and Bernadine Jurkovich, who preceded him in death.
Known for his kindness, humor, and strong work ethic, Corky never met a stranger. After high school, he worked in the Coeur and Galena mines and later at Louisiana Pacific before earning his Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) license from Spokane Falls Community College. He spent more than 20 years at Aerostar, working first as an aircraft mechanic and later in parts sales and customer service, where he was deeply loved by coworkers and customers alike.
Corky enjoyed motorcycle riding, rebuilding engines, and flying RC airplanes, winning several “Fun Fly” competitions. He also loved fishing, boating, and camping. Among his proudest accomplishments was rebuilding his cherished 1968 Nova from the ground up—twice—and winning multiple car shows.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Susan Ruffier-Jurkovich; his brother, Larry Jurkovich (Ruth) of Grangeville, Idaho; his sister, Gayle Woolsey (Rolly) of Star, Idaho; his Uncle Murdo Cameron and Aunt Toni of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial service details will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a rheumatoid arthritis organization of the donor’s choice in honor of John “Corky” Jurkovich.
