Joshua Shane Sneed, lovingly known as Hoshy, passed away on October 4, 2026, in Coeur d’ Alene. He was born on February 5, 1991, in Oak Lawn, Illinois. His passing leaves a deep absence in the lives of those who knew and loved him.
Joshua lived with energy, creativity, and a deep appreciation for both learning and the outdoors. He attended Coeur d’ Alene High School and North Idaho College, and carried with him a genuine thirst for knowledge, especially in science. He was deeply religious, reading his Bible every day and finding comfort there. Those closest to him knew him as someone with a very creative mind, a talented artist whose imagination seemed to have no limits. That creativity touched every part of his life and became especially evident in his work.
Joshua had a special affinity for animals, particularly dogs and cats. His big heart extended his compassion to his four legged friends.
He worked at Edward Smith before taking a path that reflected both his determination and vision. In 2022, Joshua started his own business, Sneed Structures, and worked hard to make a name for himself. Starting his own business was one of his proudest accomplishments, and it stood as a reflection of his courage, talent, and belief in building something meaningful with his own hands.
Joshua loved to build and to let his creativity shine. He was gifted at creating epoxy tables, wave boards, and whatever else his mind could imagine. He was also very health conscious and active in Jiu-Jitsu, always drawn to movement, discipline, and staying strong. Outside of work, he liked to stay active and found joy in snowboarding, reading, hiking in the beautiful mountains of North Idaho, and walking the trails he loved. He had hundreds of books and a mind always open to discovery. He also loved deer and elk hunting, and found peace and inspiration in nature.
Some of the most treasured memories of Joshua are rooted in the people and places he loved most. He enjoyed huckleberry picking with his mother, Kathy, drawing inspiration from the natural beauty around him. As a child, he spent summers in Chicago with his dad. He was especially close with his siblings, and that bond remained an important part of his life.
Joshua is survived by his mother, Kathy Murillo, and his father, CH Sneed. He is also survived by his brother, Mike Murillo; his sisters, Echo Sneed and her partner, Brent Baker, Amber Pape and her spouse, Kaleb, Cassie Sneed, and Savannah Sneed. He also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, McKenzie, Weston, Waverly, Briggs, Rivers, Emet, and Eben. He will be remembered with enduring love by his family, whose lives were brightened by his presence, his creativity, his faith, and the closeness he shared with them.
A Celebration of Life for Joshua will be held on November 7, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Heart of the City, 927 Polston Ave., Post Falls, Idaho 83854.
Joshua’s life was marked by imagination, faith, hard work, and a love for the world around him. He built, he explored, he learned, and he loved deeply. His memory will continue to live on in the mountains he walked, the things he created, the faith that sustained him, and the family who will carry him in their hearts always.
