Kenneth Allen Verhaag, a devoted family man, passed away on June 2, 2025, in Post Falls, Idaho, at the age of 57. Born on February 22, 1968, in Spokane, Washington, Ken was the son of Gerald Cecil Verhaag and Earlene Kay Verhaag.
Ken built a successful career as the previous owner of Kenny V's Tire Store, where his commitment to excellent service made a lasting impression on customers and friends alike. Ken worked in the automotive industry for over 35 years. He was known for his wit, always making others feel at ease with his great sense of humor.
A graduate of the Universal Technical Institute of Avondale, Arizona, Kenneth earned an associate's degree, which laid the foundation for his future endeavors in the automotive industry. His passions extended beyond his work; he was an avid enthusiast of racing, auto mechanics, hunting, fishing, and gardening. These hobbies brought him immense joy and provided cherished moments of connection with his family and friends. While fishing, Ken would drive his family and friends crazy, insisting on “one more fish” before giving up for the day, even in the pouring rain.
Ken married his beloved wife, Lucy Chriest, on August 18, 1990. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter. Ken took immense pride in his role as a father to his daughter, Monica, and son, Gabe. He welcomed the addition of his cherished granddaughter, Emmelyn Gorey, who was a great source of joy in his life.
His family remembers him fondly as someone who always cherished spending time together, showing them the importance of love, laughter, and adventure. Ken's legacy will live on through the memories shared by his loving wife, Lucy Verhaag; his daughter, Monica Gorey, and her husband, Daniel; his son, Gabe Verhaag, and his wife, Katlin; as well as his granddaughter, Emmelyn Gorey.
Though he is deeply missed by those who had the privilege of knowing him, Ken's spirit will remain forever in their hearts, inspiring them to carry on his legacy of love, laughter, and adventure.
