Spokane Valley

Marilyn Yvonne Newcombe Nielson 77
Marilyn died peacefully at her home on Dec 19th in Spokane Valley Washington
She was born in Exeter Devon, England on May 28, 1946.  Her parents were Margaret Jean Wagner and Stanley Edward Newcombe.
Marilyn grew up in England but emigrated to the United States with her mother when she was 13. They moved to Newport Beach California and that’s where she graduated from high school and met her husband Oliver LeVern Nielson Jr.  They married in August of 1963 and were married for 16 years and had 3 beautiful daughters together.
Marilyn was a stay at home mom and loved it , and when the youngest child was  in school she decided to go back to school. She enrolled at Idaho State University and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in 1983. She then started working for the State of Idaho as a Child Protection Investigator until she retired in 2000.
Marilyn had a wicked sense of humor! She loved to laugh and make others laugh. She LOVED to tell jokes, she even liked to clip cartoons from the paper if it suited someone. She loved her flowers in the garden, she had enough solar lights in the back yard that a plane could safely land, and loved to paint, whether it was a rock to give someone or to drop out on the trail or paint ornaments for Christmas presents. She was such a social person that she would get on her scooter and go around just to meet new people.
Survivors: Karen Thompson(daughter) and Rick Thompson of Idaho Falls Idaho, Kimberly Zahar (daughter) and James Zahar of Spokane Valley Washington, and Kelly Meyer(daughter) and Greg Meyer of Post Falls Idaho. Grandchildren: Heather Smith, Kaden Thompson, Brandon Meyer, Brooklyn Thompson. Great grandchildren: Lily Smith, Marshall Smith, Paul Poole, Cecil Poole.

You will be so missed. Your memory will inspire us to live a life of gratitude and love. Goodnight, Godbless, I love you so very much, too.
