Marrilynn Shoemaker Parkison, born September 23, 1948, in Lark, Utah, to Leonard Kyle Shoemaker and Alice Anne Balch, passed away peacefully at home on August 7, 2026.

Marrilynn was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and her faith was a central and deeply meaningful part of her life. She had a strong testimony of the Church and carried that faith with her throughout her life.

Above all else, family was the most important thing to Marrilynn. She would do anything for the people she loved. Her family was her greatest joy, and she had so much more love she wanted to give. Even near the end of her life, she did not want to leave because, in her heart, she wasn't done loving her family. That love will continue to live on through all those she leaves behind.

Marrilynn was an investigator at heart. It took forever for her to make a decision because she had to weigh all the pros and cons. She was thoughtful, caring, and always willing to help. If you needed her, she would do anything for you.

Marrilynn loved dancing, especially country dancing, as well as music, traveling, and driving. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life and in making memories with those she loved.

Marrilynn retired from the U.S. Forest Service after a career as a computer analyst. In 1985, she married the love of her life, Kirk Parkison.

Before her marriage to Kirk, Marrilynn was blessed with three children: Cindy M. Barnett, Kristopher M. Barnett, and Jerel Y. Smith.

Marrilynn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kirk Parkison; her granddaughter, Kenzie Barnett; her parents, Leonard and Alice Shoemaker; and her brothers, Tommy, Doug, and Leonard.

She leaves behind her children, Cindy M. Barnett, Kristopher M. Barnett, and Jerel Y. Smith; her grandchildren, Josie Barnett, Mariah Barnett, Tayte Gardner, Conner Barnett, Gretta Barnett, Amilya Smith, and Sophia Smith; her sisters, Betty Murtagh, Debbie Shoemaker, and Jessica Shoemaker; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will deeply miss her.

Marrilynn's life was defined by faith, family, love, and devotion. Her greatest legacy is the love she gave so freely to those around her. Although she is no longer with us, the love she had for her family will never leave us.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 21, 2026, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1824 East 16th Avenue, Post Falls, Idaho 83854. Viewing will be held at 8:00 a.m., followed by funeral services at 9:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held at Glacier Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell, Montana, at approximately 3:00 p.m. the same day. All family and friends who would like to attend are warmly welcome.

Marrilynn will be deeply missed and forever loved.
