Michael Xavier Rivas, born November 3, 1950, in San Francisco, California, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2025, surrounded by the love of his devoted family. Born to Annie and Frank Rivas, Michael grew into a man whose life was defined by dedication, generosity, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved.
For 43 years, Michael shared a deep and enduring partnership with his beloved wife, Cindy Rivas. Together they built a family grounded in love, laughter, and strength. He is survived by his children: Anthony Raye and daughter-in-law Erin Raye; Xavier Michael Rivas and daughter-in-law Kelly Ann Rivas; Ti’Anne Marie Michelson (Rivas) and son-in-law Richie Michelson; and Octavian Franklin Rivas and daughter-in-law Sydnee Ramsey Rivas.
Michael is also survived by his brothers Frank Joseph Rivas and David Savor Rivas, and by his sister Marguerite Anne Partika and brother-in-law Rick Delao. His love and pride extended deeply to his grandchildren—Arianna, AJ, Alyssa, Amelia, Jazmine, Ava, Annaliese, Esteban, Isaiah, Merrik, and baby Richie—and his great-grandson Liam, each of whom held a special place in his heart. He will also be remembered fondly by countless aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends from all over.
Michael lived his life with a singular purpose: to support and uplift his family in every way he could. A true jack of all trades, he met every challenge with hard work, resilience, and a willingness to do whatever was needed. He was always present—cheering, guiding, listening, and loving.
A lifelong musician with undeniable talent, Michael brought music and joy into every space he entered. He was an enthusiastic 49ers fan, a devoted animal lover affectionately nicknamed “Ace Ventura,” and a man whose infectious smile could light up any room. Those fortunate enough to know him carry with them the lessons he shared, the laughter he sparked, and the warmth he gave freely.
Michael’s legacy is one of profound love, generosity, and connection. Though he will be missed deeply, the imprint he left on his family and community will remain forever.
May he rest in peace, surrounded by the same love he gave so abundantly in life.
