Phyllis MacGregor Welsh

Phyllis McGregor Welsh 94, lived in Hayden Idaho since 2021 and passed away on June 22nd 2026 at a memory care facility. Phyllis was born in Nova Scotia, Canada on September 28th 1931. Her parents were Mildred and James McGregor. 

Phyllis grew up in Nova Scotia, where she chose to attended school in a Catholic convent. She was smart and the convent provided a better education for her. 

She married Fredric Earl Barrett in 1953. 

Phyllis worked as a secretary in a number of fields. Her last employer was with Home Savings of America as an executive secretary in Irwindale, Ca.

Phyllis moved to the US in 1963 and resided in Glendale, Ca. for a few years before moving to LaCanada , Ca and purchasing a 1st home with Fred Barrett. 

Phyllis and Fred divorced in 1972. 

Phyllis started dating William Owen Welsh, whom she had known for several years prior. Phyllis and Bill married on April 26th, 1973 and moved to a new home in Arcadia, California. 

Phyllis’s hobbies were knitting, baking, playing Bunco, and being an active member of her Episcopal church. Phyllis also enjoyed being a mom to her adopted son Dale whom she adopted out of St Johns Newfoundland, Canada in 1963. 

Phyllis is survived by only one of her sisters who still resides in Toronto Canada. Thelma Buckle is 84 years old. Phyllis is also survived by her son Dale, her daughter-in-law, 2 grand sons, and a great grand daughter. Phyllis also is survived by 4 nieces and 4 nephews. 

Phyllis’s siblings who have passed away are, Cecil “Jim” McGregor, Ruth Killam and Elenor Dunford. Also Gail McGregor, her brother’s daughter.
