Rita Louise Sparks

Rita Louise Sparks, 92, of Post Falls, Idaho, passed away on September 12, 2025 in her home.

A funeral service will be held at St. George’s Catholic Church, in Post Falls, on October 4, at 11am. A rosary vigil will precede the mass at 10:30.

Rita was born in Kenwood, California to Josephine and Stephen Mayer on June 13, 1933. She attended San Jose State and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Geology. Rita worked as a substitute teacher throughout her life, but her favorite job was being a mom. Most recently she worked at the Post Falls Library book store. Rita enjoyed reading, the Sunday Crossword and spending time with family. She was an active member of Friends of the Post Falls Library, St Joe’s Seniors on the Go, and The St. George Book Club.

Rita is survived by her four children, Doug (and Mary) Sparks of Colorado, Ginger (and Bob) Cline of Idaho, Lori (and Steve) Koepl of Idaho, and Jim (and Jill) Sparks of Oregon, along with 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Louis Sparks.
