In Loving Memory of Rosemary "Gramma Rosie" Coast

February 10, 1948 – July 18, 2026

Some people leave this world with accomplishments to remember them by. Rosemary Coast left something even greater—a legacy of love that will live on in the hearts of her family for generations.

Rosemary "Gramma Rosie" Coast, 78, passed away peacefully at her home in Post Falls, Idaho, on July 18, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on February 10, 1948, in Wallace, Idaho, to Jack Coast and Mary Ellen Higgins,  Rosemary spent her childhood in Smelterville, where she learned the values of hard work, resilience, and compassion. Those qualities became the foundation of a life devoted to family. She spent her career serving others as a medical transcriptionist, medical billing specialist, and Health Unit Coordinator. Yet the work that brought her the greatest joy wasn't found on a résumé. She lovingly cared for her grandchildren and later her great-grandchildren, creating a lifetime of cherished memories, unconditional love, and a home where everyone felt welcome. Whether cheering from the sidelines or simply spending time together, her greatest happiness came from being with her family.

To those who loved her most, she wasn't simply Rosemary—she was Gramma Rosie. She found joy in life's simple gifts: spending time with those she loved, getting lost in a good book, floating the river on warm summer days, taking drives in her beloved Corvette, and sharing countless adventures with her faithful Golden Retriever, Kaycee. Their bond was one of quiet companionship and unwavering devotion. It brings her family comfort to know that Kaycee's ashes will be laid to rest with her, together once again.

Rosemary is survived by her daughters, April (Bruce) Ellin and Jennifer (Shane) Torok; her beloved grandchildren, Blake (Katie) Torok, Justin (Kaitlyn Paige) Kahabka, Kaitlyn Kahabka, Loren (Chloe) Torok, and Alex Torok; her treasured great-grandchildren, Annabella and Alek Kahabka, Khloe, Austin and Oakley Kahabka; her many bonus grandchildren and great-grandchildren who lovingly knew her as Gramma Rosie; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were brighter because she was part of them.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jack Coast and Mary Ellen Moran; her beloved stepfather, Gilbert Moran; and her sisters, Carolyn Stricklan and Sue Fairweather.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2026, from 2:00–4:00 p.m. at the Recreation Center in Tullamore Commons, 3782 E Carradale, Post Falls, Idaho (across from the community office). Her final resting place will be at the Rose Lake Cemetery.

Her kitchen may be quiet now, and her chair may sit empty, but her legacy lives on every time her family gathers, every time they celebrate one another, every time someone reaches for a cookie, and every time they choose kindness—because that is what Gramma Rosie taught them.

Some lives are measured by years. Rosemary's will be measured by the countless hearts she filled with love.

She will be deeply missed, forever cherished, and lovingly remembered until the day her family is together again. Thank you, Gramma Rosie, for every cookie, every hug, every word of encouragement, and every memory you gave us. We will carry your love with us always, and we'll keep making memories together because that's what you taught us to do. Until we meet again, we love you.
