  • Roy Whitfield passed peacefully in the early morning of March 13, 2025, at the age of 73, after
  • a long goodbye with dementia. He leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness, cherished by his
  • son Ken (Amanda), daughter Jocelyn (John), his beloved grandchildren Lindy, Leona, Joe, and
  • Jackson and great-grandchildren Brodee and Pheobe.
  • A proud Vietnam Veteran, Roy served his country with honor. After his time in the Army, he
  • pursued his passion for baking, earning an associate degree and dedicating his career to the
  • craft. Beyond his work, Roy was an artist at heart, creating intricate intarsia woodwork that was
  • recognized at shows and featured in magazines.
  • Roy was an everyday hero—generous, selfless, and always willing to lend a hand to those in
  • need. He understood that the smallest acts of kindness could leave the deepest impact. Even
  • when transitioning into memory care, he continued his legacy of giving by donating his
  • belongings to support fellow Veterans.
  • He embraced life fully, filling his days with laughter, lifelong friendships, and happiness. His
  • warmth and generosity will live on in the many hearts he touched.
  • A celebration of life and memorial service will be held at The Intersection Church, 905 N
  • McDonald, Spokane Valley, on May 10th at 11am, with a casual reception to follow. In lieu of
  • flowers, donations in Roy’s name may be made to Newby-ginnings of North Idaho, continuing
  • his mission of helping Veterans in need.
