Shirley Ann Birch, 79, of Spokane, WA, and recently Post Falls, ID,
passed away March 5, 2021 at Kootenai Health Hospital in Coeur d’Alene, ID. She was born February 16, 1942 in Idaho Falls, Idaho to Glen Andrew Jensen and Phoebe Richeson. She graduated from Pocatello High School and shortly thereafter married Glenn Clair Birch on July 29, 1960 in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple. She remained active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life and served in many callings. She and Glenn have lived in Idaho, California, Florida, and Washington. She worked for many years teaching sewing and quilting and was a Bernina embroidery software educator (many students lovingly called her Yoda).
She loved spending time on genealogy research, playing piano, reading, sewing, quilting, knitting, and spending time with her family. She especially loved being a grandma and being with her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Glenn; her son Richard (Teresa) Birch of Spokane, WA; daughter Linda (David)Edwards of Spokane, WA; son Lloyd Birch of Port Orchard, WA; and sister Naomi (Russell) McGovern of Filer, Idaho as well as 13 grandchildren, and 23 great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held Sunday March 14, 2021 from 5-7pm at Bell Tower Funeral Home, 3398 E Jenalan Post Falls, ID and funeral services will be Monday March 15, 2021 at 12:00pm at the LDS Chapel at 808 E Sitka Ave, Spokane, WA 99208. A viewing for the family will begin an hour prior and burial will follow services at Greenwood Memorial Terrace in Spokane, WA.
