Tim Alan McRoberts, age 74, died on November 12, 2025 after a lengthy illness. He was born in Pendleton, Oregon to Marianne and Lee McRoberts. Tim was the mischievous middle child in a family of five and grew up primarily in Kennewick, Washington. He had fond memories of visiting his grandparents in Heppner, Oregon. Tim shared his father and brother’s love of sports, particularly baseball, and played that sport on his high school and college teams. Tim graduated from Eastern Washington University and taught junior high school for a short time before working a variety of jobs in construction. Over the course of his career, he worked on residential and commercial projects, helping build everything from schools to luxury log cabins. Tim ended his career with Stellar J Corporation, managing the construction of wastewater treatment plants. He worked throughout much of the western United States over his career and enjoyed living in locations such as Bellingham, Friday Harbor, and Seattle late in his career. Tim was often accompanied to work at Stellar J by his beloved dog JoJo, who sometimes donned her own construction vest on job sites.
Throughout his life, Tim was an avid reader and lover of sports, particularly the Seahawks and the Mariners. He enjoyed multiple fishing trips to Alaska prior to retirement. Tim was not a person who cared much about material things in life. He was modest in his possessions and generous with his family. He loved a good meal shared with others and enjoyed fine Scotch, which his family happily gifted to him because he was otherwise difficult to buy for.
Tim had long hair and an impressive beard most of his adult life. He wore a red shirt and Santa cap for many years on Halloween to the delight of his grandchildren. Tim adored his family, and particularly his four grandchildren, Jadyn, Logan, Violet, and Dylan. Tim never missed a birthday or Christmas with his grandkids and took care in selecting them funny birthday cards and musical Halloween cards. Tim became a great-grandfather in 2025 with the birth of Jadyn’s daughter, Kaiza.
In addition to his grandchildren and great-grandchild, Tim is survived by his daughters, Molly Kinghorn and Kristin McRoberts (husband Bill Booth), as well as Tim’s brother Terry McRoberts (wife Ellen), and Tim’s sister Sherie Knight (husband Don). Tim will also be missed by his ex-wife, Bernice Furukawa (husband Benny); late in life, Tim and Bernice were a model for divorced parents everywhere, celebrating holidays and special events together with their children and grandchildren.
Tim lived the last eight years of his life in Post Falls, moving to the area to be closer to his family (but not too close, as he greatly valued his privacy). Tim looked forward to his weekly nights out playing pool with friends including Tom O’Dell, whose wife Donna was kindly their designated driver.
A celebration of Tim’s life will occur at a later date. In the meantime, please enjoy a good book, a beer, and/or a game of pool with friends in his honor.
